Pip & Matthew

Pip and Matthew got married on a scorching hot July day at Matthew’s childhood church in Worthing, exactly where his parents had married years earlier!

They held their reception at Field Place and it was a quintessentially Sussex summer wedding with a barbecue wedding breakfast.

Pip loves a woodland theme and a natural look, but Matthew was wary of anything too untidy and favoured roses, preferably red for his buttonhole, so uniting two contrasting styles was a challenge. Pip had chosen a beautiful nude colour for the bridesmaid dresses, so I settled on using vintage coloured roses and pink vintage carnations with jasmine from my neighbour’s garden to give a natural feel through the bouquets and to soften the look, with a shot of red Naomi roses through the bouquets to lift the muted tones.

The flowers I used were quicksand roses, red Naomi roses, vendela roses, vuvuzela roses, Miss Piggy roses, memory lane roses, vintage pink carnations, tree fern, leather leaf, pavifolia eucalyptus and jasmine flowers and foliage. I wrapped lace around the stems to finish them off.

Pip had eleven bridesmaids so I designed a simple bouquet with a ‘just picked’ feel to it, for them to carry. These were then used in jars to create the table decorations for the wedding breakfast. Matthew had the red rose buttonholes he wanted, twelve in all, with a sprig of jasmine to tie them in to the overall design.

I created a front facing arrangement in a traditional design for the front of the church which also went to the venue to stand at the entrance of the reception. I made fourteen pew ends of roses and foliage for the service and took them to the venue afterwards to use along a shelf behind the bride and groom at the reception. I made and decorated the cake using the same flowers and finished off with a small decoration for the cake knife.

This beautiful wedding had such a family feel which is really important to Matthew and Pip and the flowers I chose reflected their individual styles and the vintage theme of the wedding.
